HISTORY

In August 1990, the Calloway County Preschool/Head Start Program began serving three and four year-old "at risk" children as one component of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA).  The program was initially housed at East, North, and Southwest Elementary Schools.  Growth in enrollment soon resulted in a move to a new, larger facility.  On February 7, 1994, the Calloway County Preschool Center opened its doors as the first center of its kind in the state of Kentucky.  Since that time, the program has continued to expand from the original six classes to a total of nine classrooms and over 180 students.
